CHENG HSIN CAMP
A two week, live-in camp training the whole art of Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou, from basic to advanced material.
We explore intrinsic strength through the study of techniques in effortless throwing and uprooting.
We also learn to neutralize aggressive forces and increase our understanding of such principles as listening,
yielding, following, leading, and joining; and have fun while increasing skills in freeplay.
During the camp we will have evening classes in the Cheng Hsin T'AI CHI FORM and SWORD:
The human body has a specific design that functions most powerfully and effortlessly through principles that
are studied in this work -- relaxing, grounding, being whole, centered, and calm. Also covered are: aligning
with gravity, how to structure the body, and appropriate states of mind. Training leads us to develop an
effortlessly effective body-being, applicable to activities ranging from walking and meditating to dancing
and boxing.
Another weekend day will be about SAN SHOU.
And still one other weekend day will be all BOXING:
This class covers the basics of the art of "free-fighting," developing skills and perceptions that allow effective
dodging and effortless punches, advanced strategies, and graceful interaction. We will wear gloves, train
many exercises, and participate in light freeplay. Light contact with boxing gloves can reveal important
distinctions that any fighter must know in order to be effective.
You are welcome to attend the whole two weeks, or if you can't you can attend any of the day or evening classes
listed above. For more information, a brochure, or to sign up:

BOXING INTENSIVE
You will learn more than you could imagine about the art of pugilism. This is our own brand of Cheng Hsin Boxing.
In our practice we wear gloves, but we don't try to knock out our partner. Instead we train for skill, we save power
practice for the bag. Learning how to use intrinsic strength and the whole body in our punches, deveoping skills in
dodging, footwork and whatnot are staples in this workshop. But what may be even more interesting is the work
on mind and strategy. Ninety percent of boxing skill lies in the mind. Therefore training perspective, perception,
thinking, feeling, creating disposition, and whathaveyou is a must, and are given full attention in this Intensive.

Learning and Training
The Arts of Cheng Hsin are as fun as they are vast in scope. We learn a great deal in our study of the Art of Effortless Power
or Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou -- techniques, games, principles, and exercises delight and sometimes overwhelm us. In this camp
we will focus on one central aspect of the Art -- effortless power. We can always use more study and training time to master
the use of intrinsic strength (the naturally inherent strength already occurring in the body) and the body-being principles
necessary for the development of effortless power.
The EPT camp is not meant to substitute or replace in any way the martial aspects of the Cheng Hsin Retreat. It is simply
an opportunity to delve more deeply into this one aspect of the Art of Effortless Power.

CONTEMPLATION INTENSIVE
In the first day and a half we will learn and practice trainings to increase consciousness. This will help prepare us
for the four day Contemplation Intensive which follows.
A Contemplation Intensive is similar in some ways to a Zen retreat. Throughout the intensive, participants ask or
"hold" a question such as "Who am I?" for the purpose of directly experiencing who they are. The intensive is
highly structured and requires discipline, yet the actual method used is straightforward and simple. The main
exercise done throughout the intensive is the Contemplation and Communication Exercise (CCE): working with
a silent and non-judgmental listening partner, one contemplates and then communicates what comes up as a result,
reversing roles every five minutes. The purpose of this intensive is to have an enlightenment experience, which is to
say, to directly and authentically experience the truth and nature of Being for yourself.

Most of the work in these eCourses will be addressing your mind and perceptions, your reactions and behavior.
In some we will also or primarily address your body and physical interactions. We will tackle the nature of your
perceived reality. Each course consists of 40 lesson plans given over a twelve month period. Every week or so
you will work on a new theme, and every day you will have an assignment -- usually in the form of a question, or
something to observe throughout the day, and sometimes exercises, or writing assignments on each week's lesson
which will help ground and facilitate your investigations. These lessons are designed to build upon each other,
leading the participant to new understandings and experiences. I will personally be available to answer questions
and monitor your progress, and from time to time will provide feedback to facilitate your understanding.
Available eCourses:
TRANSCENDING THE SELF -- A Mind Course
TRANSFORMING YOUR EXPERIENCE OF RELATIONSHIP
THE PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE INTERACTION
THE PRINCIPLES OF AN EFFORTLESS EFFECTIVE BODY-BEING
